What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store and send back on subsequent requests, which lets the site recognise the same browser over time. Cookies are used for useful things such as keeping someone logged in, and for tracking, such as following a person between sites to build an advertising profile.

This site sets none

prowave.online sets no cookies of its own, and allows no third party to set one through it. Specifically, there is no analytics cookie, no advertising or conversion cookie, no tracking pixel, no social media embed, no session identifier and no preference cookie. No script from any third party runs on any page of this site, and no external host is contacted when a page loads.

The practical consequence is that there is no consent banner anywhere on this site. A banner asking permission to set cookies on a site that sets none would be a false statement, and an inaccurate one is worse than no banner at all. There is nothing to consent to, so nothing is asked.

No other browser storage either

The absence extends beyond cookies. This site does not use localStorage, sessionStorage or IndexedDB, does not attempt browser or device fingerprinting, and does not use any other technique for recognising a returning visitor. The only JavaScript on the site is a single first-party file that operates the mobile menu, the navigation dropdowns and the question accordion. It reads no data, stores nothing, and sends nothing anywhere. It is served unminified and can be read in full at /assets/main.js.

What is recorded instead

One thing is recorded, and it is recorded by the hosting provider rather than by the pages themselves. Like any web server, the machine serving this site keeps ordinary access logs: the IP address making the request, the user agent string the browser sends, the URL requested, the response status, and the date and time. Those logs exist to keep the site secure and available and to diagnose faults. They are kept for 30 days and are described in full in section 2 of the privacy policy.

Server logs are not cookies. They are created by the act of requesting a page and cannot be declined by a browser setting, which is why they are disclosed here rather than presented as something you can opt out of.

What happens when you follow a link away from here

Links to other sites, including the paid links described on the affiliate disclosure page, take you to servers this publisher does not operate. Those sites set their own cookies under their own policies, and this policy stops at the boundary of prowave.online. Nothing is set on your browser by this site before, during or after you follow such a link, and no information about your visit here is transmitted anywhere when you do.

Managing cookies in your browser anyway

Although this site gives your browser nothing to store, every major browser lets you review and control cookies from all sites. The controls generally sit in the privacy or site-data section of the browser's settings, where you can view the cookies currently stored, delete them individually or in bulk, block third-party cookies, and have everything cleared automatically when you close the browser. Private or incognito windows discard cookies when the window closes. Blocking cookies entirely will break sites that rely on them for logging in; it will not affect this one, which works identically either way.

If this ever changes

There is no plan to add cookies, analytics or advertising tags to this site. If that position ever changes, three things will happen before any cookie is set: this page will be rewritten to describe exactly what is set, by whom and for how long; a consent mechanism that works will be in place; and nothing non-essential will be set until consent is given. The effective date at the top of this page will change on the same day.
